Michelle Danielsen

Speech Language Pathologist

Hello! My name is Michelle Danielsen and this is my first year as the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) at Carson Elementary.  I’ve been an SLP for 23 years, working in Denver Public Schools for the past 16.  I‘m originally from Northern California and have lived in Colorado for 16 years with my husband and our two daughters.  I attended undergrad at the University of Arizona and completed my masters degree at University of the Pacific.  I love to read, camp, bake, travel, and spend time with my family.  I look forward to getting to know the Carson Cougar community!

Hi! I am so excited to be the new school psychologist at Carson this year! I was born in Chicago, Illinois. My family moved to Longmont, Colorado when I was 5 months old.   This will be my 5th year in Denver Public Schools.  I earned my Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from Fort Lewis College and my Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. Prior to coming to DPS, I worked in Morgan County School District for 2 years and 12 years in Adams 27J.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors adventuring with my chocolate lab, Huxley. I love camping, hiking, knitting/crocheting, brunching with friends, cooking and reading. I am also a HUGE Denver Broncos fan!!

Hi! I grew up in South Carolina and attended the College of Charleston. My first years in education were working with toddlers and young children in Reggio Emilia inspired schools. I moved to Colorado eight years ago and earned my alternative teaching license through the Boettcher Teaching Residency. I then worked in Aurora teaching second grade for four years before my son was born.

When not working with students, I love going on walks with my son, my dog and my husband. I also enjoy working on fiber arts, reading and trying new baking recipes.

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska until I made my way to Colorado to attend Colorado State University.  Although I had a brief stint back in the Pacific Northwest, I came back to Colorado to attend the Physical Therapy Doctorate program at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.  I have been a Pediatric Physical Therapist for over 14 years.  Much of my career was spent in Early Intervention until I transitioned to Denver Public Schools two years ago.  I enjoy working with children and watching their independence, confidence and excitement grow when acquiring new skills.

My efforts to keep a healthy work/life balance include running and spending time with my husband, our two daughters (7 yrs and 9 yrs) and our dog Otis.  We like to spend as much time outdoors as possible; camping, biking, skiing, listening to live music and spending time with friends and neighbors.

I was born in New York, spent most of my childhood in Maryland, and then moved to the fantastic state of Colorado as a young adult. I was incredibly fortunate to find a teaching position at this amazing school after spending a year student teaching here while earning my M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction through the University of Denver.

In my free time, I love to read, hike, camp, paddleboard, and hang out with my fur babies (and occasionally some additional fosters). I currently have two rescue dogs and two rescue cats.
