Hi friends! My name is Dawn.  I moved to Colorado in 2018 seeking mountain adventures. Hiking, camping, snowboarding, swimming – you’ll find me healing in nature!

I’m a gemini who enjoys being a creative. I enjoy dabbling in all the things, art journaling, teaching myself piano, singing and dancing.

When I’m not creatively expressing myself you’ll find me at concerts or adventuring in the mountains with my dog (and maybe someday, my kitten!)

I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, and earned my BA in Geoscience and Environmental Science from Denison University. I moved to Boulder in 2013, and when I started volunteering with an after school environmental education program, I realized that teaching was my passion!

I earned my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Denver. During my program, I was lucky enough to complete my full year of student teaching at Carson in 1st grade. I am so happy to be a part of the incredible Carson community!

When I’m not in the classroom, I love traveling, reading, and hiking with my dog Oscar.

I grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado, and received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado. I knew teaching was my passion early on when I started tutoring at an after-school program my freshman year of high school. This is my 5th year teaching 1st grade at Carson, and I feel so lucky to be apart of such an amazing community.

When I am not in the classroom, you can find me traveling, hiking, running, skiing, biking, and spending time with friends and family.

I left Pittsburgh, PA, to attend CU Boulder in 1992, and stayed! I became a Nutrition Therapist early on, and then worked in business operations and management. I made the switch to teaching in 2016, attended the Stanley British Preparation Program, and shortly thereafter, earned a Masters in Education with a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse endorsement from Adams State University. I have taught K-2nd grades, and this is my second year at Carson teaching 1st Grade, my absolute happy place!

I’m proud to spend my days with my family- husband Trey, daughter Lucy (13), and son Quade (10), and two lovable dogs (and a bearded dragon). We do all the Colorado things to enjoy this magical state that we call home!
