With gratitude,  Announcements 🚩 Inside MorningsThis past week we had our first two inside mornings for the school year. We wanted to remind parents to expect to be outside unless you have heard otherwise, via text or email the morning of. We aim to be outside as much as possible. 4th and 5th Grade Student Advocacy TeamCarson families, our school’s equity committee is excited to announce the Student Advocacy Team. This will be a team of 4th and 5th grade students who have a passion for equity, diversity, and inclusion. The team will meet two times a month during lunch time and work on ways to make Carson (and the world) a better place! Here is the slideshow students saw. We are collecting “applications” through the end of the week. Please email emily_goers@dpsk12.net with any questions or ideas! Talent Show Audition Times Hello Carson Families! Check out this link to see the audition times for this year’s Talent Show. Every effort was made to keep requested times as close as possible, but we have a full audition schedule this year! If you see any issues or there are students who no longer wish to audition, please reach out to me ASAP and I will try to figure something out. Before you click the link, please read the following info!We have a very tight schedule! Please be sure to arrive on time ready to go.Students can wait in the short hallway that leads to the stage door.To respect our performers we ask that you leave when your student’s audition is finished.Likewise if you arrive early, please wait quietly to give performers a respectful environment.Just a reminder that results will be posted on Friday, November 15th outside the auditorium door.Happy practicing and please reach out with any questions! Ms. B Crossing Guard Volunteers We have a volunteer position available if you are willing to help out from 7:15-7:45 one or more mornings and/or 2:30-2:50 one or more afternoons. We would love the support! We appreciate anyone who is able to help keep our kids safe! Our Character Ed Assemblies occur on the last Thursday of the month that we are in school. Our Character Ed Committee has created a sign up sheet for anyone who has a big heart, wants to put huge smiles on all of our Carson Cougars, and is available on the day of the assemblies from 11:10-1:00, please reach out to carsoncharacter@gmail.com if you have any questions. Upcoming Events 🗓️ Scholastic Book Fair THE SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR IS COMING! Save the date for November 18th-22nd and get ready for one of our favorite events of the year! Book Fair times: Monday open until 3:30 Tuesday open until 5:30 Wednesday open until 3:30 and during our Gratitude GatheringThursday open until 3:30 Friday open until 2:00 Check out the Book Fair Newsletter Gratitude Gathering Students will be served a traditional Thanksgiving meal during our Gratitude Gathering at school on Wednesday, November 20th during their lunch period, which may have been adjusted for the day. The meal consists of roasted turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, green beans, fruit, dinner roll, and sweet potato cake with cream cheese frosting. If you would like your student(s) to eat the hot lunch on this day, please RSVP for them by the end of the day Friday, November 8th. If you and your family would like to join them, please also RSVP for additional family members as well so we can ensure we have enough food ordered and prepared. Family members can also purchase a meal for $7 for an adult ticket and $6 for a non-DPS student/child ticket. You may purchase them ahead of time before school or between 10:45-1:00 in the cafeteria, or on the day of, November 20th. Cash or a check are accepted by Food Services.
