Principal Message  ✏️
9/13/24

Hello Carson Community,
I am excited to let you know about Carson receiving our performance rating from the Colorado Department of Education (CDE). Carson has attained a ‘Meets’ rating, the highest rating the state provides! Although we were also in the ‘Meets’ category last year, we raised our score by 14.9%! This is very exciting news to celebrate!  Each year CDE uses the School Performance Framework (SPF) to rate schools and this determines the ‘school plan type’ under the state accountability system. For elementary schools, this is determined by student achievement and growth on our state standardized assessment, CMAS. Carson’s ‘school plan type’ is a performance plan, which is our Unified Improvement Plan, in which all schools in Colorado create. Check out our detailed report here!

Have a wonderful weekend!
With gratitude,

Crosswalks at Carson Please encourage your children to safely use the crosswalk when coming to and from school.  I know it is so much more convenient to walk directly across to either the front door or playground gates, but we’ve had some really close calls lately and we want to ALWAYS ensure every child stays safe. Please take the extra couple minutes and steps to walk to the crosswalk to safely get to the other side. Thank you!

Safety on the Playground Bikes, scooters and skateboards need to be dismounted prior to coming onto the sidewalks around Carson and must be walked on the Carson grounds. Please do not allow your students to ride on anything with wheels on the blacktop or concrete at Carson.

Blacktop and Concrete Our new blacktop and concrete are being picked at by kids after hours. Please make sure your children are not picking at the concrete and blacktop.  We want our new playground to last for years to come so all can enjoy it safely!

Tardy Students Please try to get your students to school everyday on time. It is disruptive to the class when students come in late and hard on the student who is late for school. If your child is tardy, make sure to bring them into the building using the front entrance on Grape Street to sign them in. Students will get a tardy slip from Ms. Brooke at the front desk in the Carson lobby. Students say goodbye to caregivers in the lobby and will then walk to their class on their own or with assistance from the Carson team to avoid interruptions to the learning already taking place in the classrooms and to encourage student independence,  Check out this attendance resource!
