Carson Elementary School Magnet Programs

Deaf/Hard of Hearing Program
The Auditory/Oral program is designed to provide deaf and hard of hearing students in grades ECE through 5 with skills necessary to achieve their potential.  Our goal is to provide each child with speaking and listening skills in order to prepare them for successful everyday life.  Teachers have been specially trained to integrate auditory learning, developmental speech, speech reading, and intense oral and written language instruction into all academic areas.

Highly Gifted & Talented / High Achieving Program
The Highly Gifted & Talented program, available in the Denver Public Schools since 1985, is designed to meet the unique needs of students with extraordinary academic abilities and intellectual potential found in the top one percent of the population.  Carson’s program also accepts high achieving students based on space availability.  Our HGT/HA multi-age classrooms serve students in grades one through five and share the goal of every Carson classroom: challenge each child while building a community of learners.  Carson’s teachers are specifically trained to meet the individual needs of highly gifted and talented and high achieving students by providing differentiated instruction to support academic success and social development.
