Carson PTA
PTA Memberships are available any time during the school year for $15 per family or $10 per individual. Memberships include benefits affiliated with the National PTA including discounts at retail merchants. PTA Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month in the school library from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Childcare is available in the school cafeteria for $2 per child during the meeting. The meeting agendas are posted in the monthly Cougar Tracks newsletter. Attending the meetings is an opportunity to learn more about what is happening at Carson, ask questions and give input. Speakers are scheduled a few times throughout the year to address current issues concerning students. Everyone is welcome at any time. Carson Elementary Parent-Teacher Association is a non-profit organization affiliated with the Colorado PTA and National PTA organizations. The Carson PTA involves students, parents and teachers in programs and projects throughout the school year to support Carson's school culture and enhance the education of Carson students. The programs and events sponsored by PTA can only be successful with the help and input of volunteers. Parents may volunteer one hour or on a regular basis. There are many fun, interactive and useful ways to contribute your time. Consider helping out at one of the following PTA-sponsored events or programs: Carson PTA is able to support these programs through parent, teacher and student participation as well as fundraising. PTA holds only a few fundraising drives per year. The annual catalog wrapping paper and gift sale in the fall raises money to support PTA's annual programs listed above. The Carson Auction targets a specific school need. In past years, the auction has raised money for the new school playground, installation of sound field systems into all of Carson's classrooms, and in 2007-2008 Auction funds will be used to purchase new curtains for the stage (the current curtains are original to the school, circa 1950's), a sound system, and a projection screen. PTA hopes to raise $25,000 to purchase the items needed to make the Carson family proud of its auditorium.
