Character Education
Committee Meeting Minutes Buy a Cup of Carson
"We are proud students, involved parents, committed educators and a caring staff. We are a warm welcoming community offering a safe, nurturing and challenging environment. Our children are comfortable growing, learning and celebrating differences with consistency, honesty, responsibility, kindness and respect"
Character Education continues to be a very important part of the Carson school day. Students are engaged in learning the traits, and we continue to work to ensure that we all demonstrate the quality of the traits on a daily basis. The committee meets once a month to continue discussion regarding what character education will look like at Carson. Parents on the committee will begin going into classrooms to partner with teachers to talk to students about specific traits.
The character education committee is committed to making sure that character education is infused into the daily curriculum, introducing and reintroducing the character traits and correlating poster statements, providing service learning to students in grades one through five, working with the Office of Education for Character, and communicating to parents and staff all events and meetings relating to character education.
The Cougar Bucks program which was started with students at the end of last school year will begin again soon. Cougar Bucks will be given to students who demonstrate the Carson character traits. The Cougar Bucks will be used collectively to purchase games and toys for inside days and playground use.
